How to Cut through the Awkward Feeling of Connecting with Successful Pro Bloggers

Make no mistake; if you want to really succeed with your blog you will be connecting with successful pro bloggers.

A retweet or endorsement from these bloggers can put you on the radar of a huge audience.

Toss in potential business partnerships and you can skyrocket your blogging income quickly by helping and befriending big dawg bloggers.

How to Connect with Pro Bloggers

If you’re like most human beings it may feel awkward or downright terrifying to reach out to folks you put on a pedestal. The terrible tragedy is that these uncomfortable, nerve-wracking emotions will kill your chances at building a successful blog. Even worse? The feelings are lies, created by the ego-constructed illusion that these people are so different than you.

Cut through the awkward feelings. Befriend successful pros with a calm sense of confidence which leads to all sorts of prospering partnerships.

Follow these tips.

1: Realize this Truth

Zac Johnson puts on his pants one leg at a time like you and me.

Darren Rowse brushes his teeth in the morning.

Every successful pro blogger is a human being.

Before you get all sweaty in the palms about reaching out to an iconic blogger put your awkward feelings aside.

Every blogger is human. Just like you.

2: Start with Retweets

Retweet a pro blogger.

Lay the foundation for a blogging friendship.

Begin to humanize versus idolize your blogging mentor.

Retweeting a blog post from a top blogger pushes you firmly outside of your comfort zone. Ya gotta sprint into your “uncomfortable zone” to get past those nervous, panicked feelings of conversing with an established, well-known blogger.

All it takes is a retweet. Reach out. Help ‘em. Connect.

3: Add in Blog Comments

You retweeted a blogging icon. Awesome.

Lay down that brick.

Then add in a blog comment to fortify your bond.

Even if the pro does not respond to your comment I can almost guarantee they read the comment and see you as being on the radar. Good deal.

This is one more step in the process of going from awkward fan to a comfortable friend as you bond with blogging pros.

I am more idiot than icon but I do read every comment on my blog. I respond to every comment (for now, at least). Alos, I love my commenters. I love my readers.

If you comment on a well-known blog the blog owner appreciates your kindness. Meaning, you can view them less as Caligula looking down on his minions and more like a kind, genuine, grateful person who is on the same level as you.

Because….we’re all equal!

4: Take it to Email or Social

Take your connection to social or email to humanize your connection.

When I first attempted to connect with big dawg bloggers I saw their massive followings and placed them on a pedestal. But when I emailed these pros 1 to 1 I was chatting with a human being in a cyber intimate setting.

Emailing or direct messaging a pro levels the playing field. The “pro on a pedestal” becomes another human being. Just like you. Which helps you to dissolve that uncomfortable feeling of connecting with the big dawgs of the blogging world. And the big dawgettes of course.

5: Work on Your Mindset

You only feel awkward approaching or connecting with pro bloggers because of some self-image issues. If the low self-image dissolves so does the awkwardness.

Spend 30 minutes working on your mindset after you wake up. Set the tone for your day.

Meditate, pray, exercise and consider jumping into an icy cold shower to raise your vibe. Just talk to your doctor before you turn yourself into a blogging popsicle.

Work on your mindset. See yourself as being worthy and powerful. Cut through that awkward feeling.

It’s Your Turn
